The Electromechanical Technology program prepares graduates for the rapidly changing industrial environment. Graduates also obtain many of the skills sought after by the fast emerging wind power industry. There is an increased need in industry for technicians with cross-disciplinary skills in the areas of electrical and mechanical technology.

The new Energy Systems Engineering Technology program will train people to understand how energy is generated, distributed and consumed and how we need to make smart choices to ensure a sustainable flow of energy while maintaining our lifestyle. If you are interested in equipping yourself with the knowledge and skills to make a difference in the way we use energy to ensure sustainability of the planet this program is the place to start.

The Plumbing program is developed from nationally identified skills for piping occupations. The objective of the program is to provide training for individuals preparing for a career or who are currently involved in this field. The program also allows for specialization in installing process pipe and tubing, natural and liquefied gas, plumbing, heating and instrumentation and fire sprinkler and standpipe systems.

The integrated training model used in this program provides students with a coordinated pathway taking them from pre-apprenticeship training through to a Provincial Certificate of Qualification with Red Seal. It includes all aspects of program delivery including 'on campus' training at Holland College and 'in industry' work placements.

The Welding certificate program is a nine month pre-employment program that prepares students with the basic skills and knowledge they require to gain employment in the welding industry. Students in this area of study may choose to seek employment after completion of their studies or they may decide to pursue further training opportunities, including apprenticeship training or transfer into the second year of Holland College's Welding Fabrication Program in Georgetown.

The global market for wind energy is expanding faster than any other source of electric energy. Our increasing interest in reduction of non-renewable fuels, and greenhouse gases has made wind energy very attractive. Wind energy is a sustainable form of energy. It does not use fuel, and does not produce greenhouse gas. PEI is establishing itself to be one of the most progressive renewable energy leaders in North America.

This program will help students build the knowledge and skills necessary for post-secondary studies in the media cluster of programs.
