Information about enrolling in a course entitled "silviculture worker lesson plan". The “Lesson Plan” is very comprehensive in scope. While dealing with the tools of the forestry trade, particularly chainsaw safety and the physical well being of the worker, the Lesson Plan also covers the mental well being of the worker by covering such areas as harassment and employee rights.

The Provincial Forest program Tenders site offers information on public tenders related to forest management and harvest activities on public lands managed under this program. Some of these tenders pertain to the harvest of timber and non-timber forest products, while others relate to the delivery of specific silvicultural and infrastructure work on Provincial Forest and other public properties.
In the fall of 2009 and the winter of 2010, two workshops responding to the growing interest in non- timber forest resources were held in Nanaimo, British Columbia (November 6, 2009) and Truro, Nova Scotia (February 18-19, 2010). This report summarizes the main outcomes, lessons learned and key messages of those workshops and provides some suggestions for strategies that the Canadian Model Forest Network and its members could follow to support future development in the non-timber forest products sector.
There are many things to consider before harvesting wood from your land. The value of the timber is only one consideration. Things such as water quality, wildlife habitat, environmental protection, future timber and woodlot values, and recreation are also important features. These can be maintained or improved if harvesting is done properly. All it takes is knowledge, careful planning and follow through. This brochure lists the steps to follow to make sure the harvest turns out the way you want it to, even if you don’t do it yourself.
