Supported by strong faculty, this program provides innovative business training that prepares you for a wide variety of careers while continuing to recognize the needs of the Nova Scotia business community.
This concentration builds on the skills and business knowledge that you develop in your 1st year, teaching you how accounting fits within the business process, and how it affects, and is affected by, all the other areas. You learn how to do the day-to-day manual and computerized functions of accounting. You learn how to analyze the numbers and make strategic business recommendations based on that information. To round out your business perspective, you also study finance, taxation, principles of management and business ethics.
This concentration provides you with skills in project management, advanced software applications and business management. Graduates are prepared to be leaders and power users in technology, information and management.
This concentration develops the skills you need to make strategic decisions that lead to an organization's growth and success. You're prepared to start at an entry level, but employers will recognize your management potential.
In this concentration, you learn about stocks, bonds, financial instruments and capital markets – the foundation of individual wealth, corporate development and economic growth. You learn the essentials of: risk management; personal financial planning; portfolio development; securities products, compliance and distribution; and general insurance contracts.
In this concentration, you're introduced to a broad range of financial services areas including banking, insurance, and financial planning. You learn how these topics fit together and have an impact on both businesses and individuals. You develop an understanding of the importance for sales skills and customer relationship management. Throughout the year, you also have the opportunity to further advance in the areas of, financial planning, insurance and mutual funds and earn related designations/licenses.
Addictions support professionals help individuals, families and groups affected by harmful involvement with alcohol, drugs, gambling and other addictive behaviours. Working as part of a client-centred team with other professionals they design and implement strategies for dealing with addictions.
