The Canadian Co-operative Association (CCA) has launched the First Nations, Métis and Inuit Cooperative Development Program to help Aboriginal communities explore the potential of co-operatives to meet their needs. The five-year pilot program is being developed in consultation with national Aboriginal organizations and the program’s steering committee will be composed of representatives of co-operative and national Aboriginal organizations. It is sponsored by Arctic Co-operatives Ltd.

Attendance at these meetings is critical to full participation in co-management of the fisheries.
As part of our national program, we are looking for 20 Aboriginal (First Nation, Métis and Inuit) students at the college and/or university level who are interested in a future career with Business Development Bank of Canada. The program is designed to provide business experience through training and mentorship. The objective will be to select candidates that may qualify for permanent employment as customer service officers or account managers with BDC once they have completed their education and are looking for full-time employment.
