The Aboriginal Financial Officers Association of Canada (AFOA) is dedicated to helping Aboriginals reach the highest standard of excellence in finance and management. AFOA's initiatives in the development of Awards and Scholarships are examples of that commitment. Each year a ceremony is held in conjunction with the AFOA Canada National Conference where the following awards and scholarship are presented.

Norman Taylor Memorial Bursaries [Aboriginal Financial Officers Association, AFOA]

AFOA is pleased to launch a new program – the Norman Taylor Memorial Bursary Program. There are four $1,000 bursaries to be awarded. Bursaries are open to AFOA members and non-members.

Aboriginal Youth Financial Management Conference Awards [Aboriginal Financial Officers Association, AFOA]

The AFOA-Meyers Norris Penny LLP Aboriginal Youth Financial Managements Awards are open to First Nation youth in grades 11 and 12. Winners attend AFOA's National Conference and participate in a special Youth program designed to introduce youth to careers in Aboriginal finance and management.

Mi'kmaq Scholarship [Nova Scotia Power Inc., NSPI]

Created in 2011, the Aboriginal Scholarship offers a $1500 entrance scholarship to a graduating Aboriginal high school student. (Students electing a one year gap will be considered)

Scholarships for Employees' Children [Nova Scotia Power Inc., NSPI]

The Nova Scotia Power Scholarship for Employees’ Children offers four renewable $1500 awards to children/dependents of regular employees or retirees of Nova Scotia Power.

The Ronald G. Smith Scholarship [Nova Scotia Power Inc., NSPI]

This scholarship is open to Dalhousie University commerce students. It is a one-time, non-renewable award of $400.
