The Post Graduate Diploma in Aboriginal Agriculture and Land Management is a unique program that provides students with practical training in agribusiness and land management. The program is specifically designed for Aboriginal students who have graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in a non-agricultural discipline, however all students are welcome to apply.
Courses in the Development Studies Stream have been selected to provide students with a broad, interdisciplinary education focusing on the conditions and problems of less-developed countries comprising the so-called "Third World" and such parts of more developed nations referred to as the "Fourth World", the history and theory of economic development around the world, and the geographic and environmental consequences of "development." The recommended courses in this stream include examinations of specific aspects of third world development in all of the disciplines involved in the program.
Learn about government institutions and processes, policies, management and administration in Aboriginal communities. Develop your management and administrative skills in this exciting and challenging program. Participate in special internship courses and events and engage with the leaders in the field. Learn about the governance of Aboriginal communities and their relations with other communities in northern, rural and urban areas. Understand the role of Indigenous Knowledge in developing culturally appropriate governance systems.
The Indigenous Peoples Resource Management Certificate (IPRM) is offered in partnership between the College of Agriculture and Bioresources, Indian and Northern Affairs Canada (INAC) and National Aboriginal Land Managers Association (NALMA), to First Nations land managers from across Canada. Participants of the program receive a Certificate of Proficiency upon successful completion of six degree-level courses through a combination of face-to-face and home study distance format. Courses deal with the knowledge that indigenous land managers require for effective resource management.
The Aboriginal Business Administration Certificate (ABAC) is a two-year direct entry program for self-identified Aboriginal students. ABAC is designed to provide programming for Aboriginal students who do not meet the admission criteria for direct admission or transfer admission to the undergraduate program. The program is also designed for those Aboriginal students who wish to obtain a certificate in business but do not want to study in a four year degree program.
