This program will provide key foundational skills and knowledge to assist in the development of a First Nations economic infrastructure. The knowledge and skills acquired through the program will produce human capital which will support long term benefits in the development of residential and commercial enterprises on First Nation lands. After an introduction to basic microeconomic and macroeconomic principles, students will be exposed to First Nations’ issues as they relate to market failure and poverty. Stress will be placed on acquiring the skills and knowledge that are required to enable the reduction of transaction costs related to conducting business on First Nation lands, which will in turn promote and facilitate investment activity. Specific focus will be on residential and commercial development on First Nation lands. The program also provides a basic understanding of impact analysis and skills in writing and presenting reports for investment proposals.
