The new Pulp and Paper Green Transformation Program will lay the groundwork for a greener, more sustainable future for Canada’s pulp and paper sector by supporting innovation and environmentally friendly investments in areas such as energy efficiency and renewable energy production. It will allow pulp and paper mills in Canada to further reduce their greenhouse gas emissions while helping to position them as leaders in the production of renewable energy from forest biomass.
Established in 2002, Canada Wood funds activities that help Canadian wood producers diversify and expand export opportunities for their products in traditional and emerging overseas markets, including Europe, Japan, China and South Korea.
This concept paper includes a planning and development process as a first phase of establishing an Aboriginal Centre for Research and Development Focussed on the Commercialization of Forest Products and Services. The proposed planning and development process will consist of refinement and validation of the concept, the preparation of a supporting business case, the recruitment of partners, and the identification of funding sources.
