All students entering MCFT are enrolled in the Forest Technology program. This program takes place over two years and includes a paid summer work term between year one and two. Upon completion successful students will obtain a Diploma in Forest Technology. Any student who chooses to pursue the Advanced Diploma will have to opt into the program while in the second semester of their first year of studies if they wish to complete the Advanced Diploma within two years.
The Environmental Applied Science Technology Program educates and trains Environmental Technicians to have the skills and knowledge to manage and enhance the sustainability of the environment. These activities include environmental monitoring, or the use of sampling and analysis techniques in any of the following sectors:
The Electromechanical Technology program prepares graduates for the rapidly changing industrial environment. Graduates also obtain many of the skills sought after by the fast emerging wind power industry. There is an increased need in industry for technicians with cross-disciplinary skills in the areas of electrical and mechanical technology.
The new Energy Systems Engineering Technology program will train people to understand how energy is generated, distributed and consumed and how we need to make smart choices to ensure a sustainable flow of energy while maintaining our lifestyle. Students in this program will develop the skills and knowledge to be successful in many aspects of the HVAC trade including electrical and control systems, installation and servicing of basic heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration systems for residential and commercial application.
The integrated training model used in this program provides students with a coordinated pathway taking them from pre-apprenticeship training through to a Certificate of Qualification with Red Seal. It includes all aspects of program delivery including 'on campus' training at Holland College and 'in industry' work placements. Under Provincial Legislation, registration as an apprentice working under the guidance of a journey-person or a Certificate of Qualification is compulsory for the trade of Automotive Service Technician.
