Surveying is the science of measuring the physical world around us to determine the shape and position of objects or features. Surveying skills are applied to a wide variety of activities, from exploration for natural resources such as oil and natural gas to determining the boundary between two parcels of land to controlling the layout of buildings and highways. To accomplish this, surveyors employ a number of technological approaches for measuring the physical world.
In this program you develop skills to install and connect piping systems including processes that convey gas, or the tubing for any pneumatic or air-handling system. You’re introduced to design drawings and installation programs for a variety of systems. In a workshop setting that reflects industry practice and safety standards, you learn to use hand tools, power tools and shop equipment; select materials; cut, join and fabricate piping and fittings; perform electric tack welding and oxy-fuel cutting; and rigging practices.
Working in this field requires a variety of skills in mechanical systems, electronics, and basic soldering. You learn to repair and maintain residential and commercial refrigeration and air conditioning systems. You also learn to install gas lines, liquid lines and other kinds of piping. Basic skills in oxy-acetylene brazing and welding are covered as well as the installation of electrical circuits and controls.
This is an excellent program for a person with many different interests. It's composed of studies in advanced on-air techniques, digital audio production, and internal station operations as well as contemporary radio industry and technology developments.

Broadcast Journalism could be the area of specialization for you. With a focus on writing, reporting, and reading the news for both radio and television, you are active in the community – interviewing people, recording the sound and shooting the visuals, as well as writing and presenting the stories on the air. In your senior project you create a documentary about social issues and engage the community to develop real life stories.
