The Faculty of Graduate Studies along with the Indigenous Governance Program (IGOV) offers the selected opportunities for students to pursue a PhD degree by Special Arrangement.
The Master of Arts in Indigenous Governance (MAIG) is an interdisciplinary program focused on traditional structures and ways of governance and encompassing the values, perspectives, concepts, and principles of Indigenous political cultures.
The Aboriginal Community Resource Planning Certificate (ACP) consists of 10 courses (minimum 30 credit hours) drawn primarily from First Nations Studies and Environmental Studies, with offerings from Geography, Commerce, Resource Recreation and Tourism, and Natural Resources and Environmental Management.

The Ch'nook Diploma program is designed to reflect the needs of First Nations students in a post secondary setting. It is a two-year program in business foundation and fundamentals that will allow students of aboriginal ancestry to gain the skills required for a career in business. These foundation courses are linked with specialized aboriginal business courses in preparation for transfer to UBC Ch'nook Bachelor of Commerce program, (B.Com.) Ch'nook Major.
Program Highlights include: (1) Promote stewardship of Aboriginal lands within the context of government policies and industrial development; (2) Understand how Aboriginal history, politics and cultural values influence natural resource management; (3) Develop skills and techniques for natural resource management in a 3 week environmental field school; and (4) Participate in an optional international field school - past destinations include Tanzania and Mexico.
The Aboriginal Entrepreneurship Program is designed to allow individuals working in Aboriginal business settings to acquire business skills and knowledge without having to leave their jobs or relocate their families.
