CBU’s MBA in CED aims to develop a new generation of leaders who have strong business management capabilities, well developed collaborative and interpersonal skills, and deep knowledge of accountability, social responsibility, and development issues and practices. Graduates are equipped with the knowledge and skills to make a difference in leading organizations in an increasingly global community and economy.
This is a two-year professional course of study that combines graduate-level coursework in economics with a number of graduate courses in cognate disciplines (underlining the interdisciplinary nature of development) and the completion of a master's thesis. The MDE focuses on economic progress in poor countries and poor regions of wealthy countries such as Canada. The MDE prepares students for professional policy-analysis in the public or private sectors in Canada or abroad.
The Graduate Diploma in Community Economic Development (CED) is a 30-credit program that equips practitioners to strengthen local communities in an era of globalization and participate in the process of progressive social change. This program seeks to respond to the realities of community-based practitioners from a diverse range of fields. It is designed to enable participants to continue working while taking the program, whether pursuing the program on a full-time or half-time basis.

Learn about the governance of Aboriginal communities and their relations with other communities in northern, rural and urban areas. Understand the role of Indigenous Knowledge in developing culturally appropriate governance systems.
The Indigenous Peoples Resource Management Certificate (IPRM) is offered in partnership between the College of Agriculture and Bioresources, Indian and Northern Affairs Canada (INAC) and National Aboriginal Land Managers Association (NALMA), to First Nations land managers from across Canada. Participants of the program receive a Certificate of Proficiency upon successful completion of six degree-level courses through a combination of face-to-face and home study distance format. Courses deal with the knowledge that indigenous land managers require for effective resource management.
The Aboriginal Business Administration Certificate (ABAC) is a two-year direct entry program for self-identified Aboriginal students. ABAC is designed to provide programming for Aboriginal students who do not meet the admission criteria for direct admission or transfer admission to the undergraduate program. The program is also designed for those Aboriginal students who wish to obtain a certificate in business but do not want to study in a four year degree program.

The BA in Politics and Governance focuses on a critical understanding of the public and private institutions, structures and processes of ‘governance’. The program offers courses in five sub-fields: Canadian, Comparative, Global, Policy, and Theory. Unlike traditional political science undergraduate degrees that focus on governmental actors and policy makers, our Politics and Governance program embraces a range of forms of governance.
This innovative program (offered in both full- and part-time configurations) integrates the fields of public policy and public administration to reflect the theoretical and practical realities of the political context of policy development, implementation and analysis; and, prepares graduates for further academic pursuits and careers in the public service at all levels of government, in the non-profit sector, in private sector organizations with significant relationships with government and in international organizations.
